| How To Turn Off Notifications For Selected Applications On iPhone Posted: 04 Jul 2012 01:58 PM PDT iPhones can be recognized from a far away distance thanks to the unique notification sound they make. Yet on occasions this may be extremely if the phone keeps buzzing off and fills your notification center. If that is the case with you and you do not wish to receive notifications from a particular app, then you can turn this off. This procedure can only be carried out if you are using an iPhone which has been upgraded to or beyond iOS 5.0. This method is completely reversible so in case you want to re enable the notifications, then you can do that too. Step 1: Go to the Settings icon on the springboard on your phone. Step 2: Click on the Notifications panel. Step 3: Here you will see all the applications that send you notifications, or the ones you have granted permission to send you notifications and be there in the notification center. So select the application, you wish to not receive notifications from. Step 4: Now change the alert style to ‘None’. You can also change the alert style to banner in case you do not like the big blue box on alert and this will switch the alerts of your device off. You can repeat the above steps and change this back to normal settings too. We hope this little tutorial helped you to get rid of annoying notifications that trouble you always. Here is a step by step guide for you to install any particular application on your device. Step 1: Make sure you sign up to the Google account on both your device and desktop/laptop. You can check this by just going to Google and looking at the top right corner which will then show your account credentials if you are logged in. Step 2: Next Step is either to go to the URL of the Play Store that you have already selected from an Online review, or just head to the Play Store directly to select the application you want. Here is the link to the Play Store. Step 3: Now pick the app you need to download either by typing the name or it would just have opened in case you have followed the link. Click on the install icon on the left of your screen, if it says, compatible with your device like it does in the screenshot below: Step 4: Once you click Install, a dropdown will open, that would enable you to select your phone. The name of the phone will be visible irrespective of the fact if it is connected to Wi-Fi or not, Just select the phone to start the installing Over The Air. | Is Modbook All Set To Come Back? Posted: 04 Jul 2012 12:44 PM PDT Ever heard of MORDOR…err…MODBOOK???? you could be forgiven given the fact that the dreams of the original Modbook died with the release of iPad in 2010. The first version of the hacked notebook preceded Apple's announcement of the iPad by two years. When the iPad finally hit the markets in 2010, it did a lot to address the desire for a slate device running Apple Software. Since then, things have largely remained silent on the Axiotron front. In fact, the last time we heard a significant peep out of the company was back in 2009. Its former CEO Andreas Haas assured us, however, that the real reason for the company’s silence is a bit more complicated than the story of yet another product falling victim to the Apple steamroller. After being renamed Modbook Inc. the company teased via its facebook page. This time round marks the return of a 13.3 in tablet device named ModBook pro. The question arises, can such a device stand tall in a market flooded with Android tablets and the mighty iPad? The folks at Modbook Inc. feel it can. They say the product is unique enough to differentiate themselves from the bunch as its the most powerful and largest screen tablet in the world. And how is that? It’s easy to see their point — the iPad and most Android tablets are certainly limited as tools for creative professionals. The Modbook Pro, on the other hand, gives the user full OS functionality on a stylus input device. With the base configuration, you’re getting a 2.5GHz, dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (upgradable to a 2.9GHz, dual-core Intel Core i7), up to 16GB of RAM and up to either a 1TB HDD or 960GB SSD, for starters — this is very much a real computer. On top of all of that is a pen system that offers 512 pressure levels on its 1280 by 800 pixel display. Keeping the company tradition intact, the Modbook will run a hacked version of OS X. But unlike the past Modbook, born in an era where dual boot wasn't a reality, the company is pushing the Windows experience on this device. The release version will run Windows 7 and can be easily upgraded to windows 8 Pro. "Having Windows upgrade the Operating System to a better interface [is something] we welcome, because that makes our device even better all around. And if the other manufacturers don’t change their hardware and actually change their target group, it doesn’t bother us.” says Haas. In other words, as long as other device makers target consumers and not professionals, Modbook will be just fine, which remains to be seen, of course. As far as availability is concerned, expect it round about the time Windows 8 is slated for release. Much of its success lies in pricing, which is likely to be fairly high. What are your initial impressions on the Modbook? Do leave your valuable comments in the section below. Blogtechnika would like to thank Mr. Ankur Jangra for his immense contribution towards this post. Related posts:

| Watch Android 4.1 JellyBean On Video Posted: 04 Jul 2012 12:16 PM PDT We recently told you plenty about the new that Google has bought with it’s latest update for Android named Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is not a massive jump in terms of UI and very obvious changes, but the performance has been tweaked a lot. So far very few devices such as the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy SIII have been able to see this new update, though they will soon be rolling out for other devices too. A lot of time has been spent on tweaking the performances through what is called the Project Butter, and it definitely makes a big difference. When put side to side it is fairly difficult to just see with naked eye which device is running ICS and which one is on Jelly Bean, but the performance levels are fairly different. Here is an interesting video shot by The Verge that shows you all that is new on the new Android 4.1. To read our entire list of new features on Jelly Bean, you can click on the link here. | Google Set To Retire iGoogle In 2013 Posted: 04 Jul 2012 11:30 AM PDT In a news that may come as a fair amount of surprise to everybody, Google is set to retire iGoogle starting from November 1st, 2013. For those who are unaware of iGoogle, it is a more personalized form of Google like none other where you can configure to add up Twitter, Facebook and other social media feeds alongside your mail inbox and various other small widgets. I personally don’t know about others but I found iGoogle pretty useful. Having Gtalk widget alongside mails and all the social feeds with a handy currency converter and a nice quotes generator was of immense help. Here is the official announcement from Google on their blog regarding the plans to retire iGoogle. It is definitely a little shocking seeing the reason. I guess the main reason maybe down to the fact that a lot of people did not really use iGoogle. I had it set as my home page so that i did not have to navigate across 5/6 sites every time i logged on to the internet to see what is going on. It is definitely apps like TweetDeck that have solved the entire purpose of iGoogle over the last year or so. However, every user has about the same 16 months to wind down their data and shift to a service they would like. For the time it was there, iGoogle was definitely one of the things I loved about Google. Via: Google Related posts:

| Be A Coin Collecting Bully With Angry Gran For iOS And Android Posted: 04 Jul 2012 07:19 AM PDT This iOS application is compatible with all Devices. Genres: Entertainment |Arcade| Adventure Size: 19.66 MB If you are looking for a straight-forward, not so time consuming game Angry Gran, available for Free on iPhone, iPad and Android, is simple yet a lot of fun game.
Originated as a flash game, a creative concept with a granny as the main character, who is equipped with newspapers, skateboards, stop signs etc. as weapons, beats up people on the street to gain some coins for retirement spending and adding to her pension. One single control to look around, tap the screen and hold to gain power, then release to perform the hit. Depending on the power used, you gain a varied amount of coin. You can also collect pension funds, which automatically accumulates after a certain period of time. The game speeds up after every checkpoint, in the form that old granny walks faster which is quite hilarious. This gives you less time to charge your attack and higher chance to hit yourself or even miss targets. When you do so it leads to a wheelchair and loss of time as during this time granny rolls on a wheelchair and is like a sitting duck and cannot attack anyone. It is harder to accumulate enough coins before hitting a checkpoint. You should avoid hitting the cops unless you collect some extra items like bribe tickets. With the money earned, you could upgrade your skills: Strength – charge attack faster, Discount – reduce money needed to pass a checkpoint, the most important tip we’d give is to recover fast if you hit yourself. You can also purchase new weapons that add different perks for the granny. Boosts are available each round to assist you in the run, and you can upgrade your pension plan to collect more money every hour. The background music and graphics are adorable. Game starts simple but gets challenging after a couple checkpoints. There is a neat and clean approach to the gameplay. The ads might bother you at times. You should position your tapping finger on a part of screen so that nothing is blocked from your sight. Your tapping and release to perform the hit is all that matters. So you have to be fast and know when it is best to strike the killer blow to get maximum coins. We found it definitely worth a try because there is nothing to lose with this simple yet funny game. | Apple Must Deliver To Avoid “END”-Game Posted: 04 Jul 2012 06:59 AM PDT Projected as the world's first trillion dollar company, Apple doesn't seem to continuously defy the law of averages. It has been a decade since Apple first returned to profitability and gave its shareholders something to smile about and to this day, things couldn't have got any merrier for Jobs' brain child and its associates. In the recently concluded Developer's Conference Apple introduced to us a fresh range of products to further strengthen its product portfolio to dominate the markets. Apple’s iCloud service already boasts 125 million registered users; the Mac user base has grown to 66 million users since launch the OS X Lion last summer, with 40 percent of Mac users running that Operating System. Such impeccable stats only affirm the fortunes that analysts and experts have predicted for this tech-giant. However, as the company continues to swell and in its journey to set new benchmarks day after another, it appears to be failing to address the increasing number of loose ends that emerge in any entity of its stature. Specifically, in absence of Jobs peremptory vision, Apple may have been fiddling with "strings" that has "deafened" many large corporations in the past. With the "i" devices not debuting any major ground breaking technologies, even some of its more ardent fans were left in disarray. Some of it products like itv, Airport Express, mac mini; which are just cashing in the loyalist(the snobby elite) may become more of an liability for Apple, if those products don't offer an edge over what the competition has to offer. And the competitors are taking advantage of this small window of opportunity that Apple is leaving for them to crawl back in. With Google launching its Nexus Tab 7, Nokia anteing its smartphone range with the Lumia range and Surface, and Samsung already in commanding lead in the smartphone segment; Apple needs to go back on drawing table and address the demand of the hour. If apple has to avoid the fate of its contemporary Microsoft, once hailed as the leader of PC revolution, then Apple has to to learn from the mistakes that lead to Microsoft's troubles. A company that once held an unyielding market share, is trading at nearly one twentieth the of an apple stock. These misfortunes can largely be attributed to the careless and arrogant attitude taken up by the Microsoft think that. Microsoft had such a commanding hold in the market, much like a monopoly, that it didn't feel to make amends with time. And thus it is forced to face the repercussions. Tim Cook and his team should take learning of the Microsoft paradigm before the mellifluous music ceases for them. Dell’s CEO Michael Dell was once quoted that if he ran Apple "he would shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders". If you are one of those who abides by Dell's notion traded your apple stocks ten years ago then you must be busy person coming with fresh curses for yourself. And if Apple wants to continue defy the trends and shame its haters then it must deliver to the expectations it has build for itself. Apple is planning to thrash its competitors Google (Nexus 7) and Microsoft (Surface). Recently on Google I/O conference, Google announced Nexus 7 tablets at very cheap rate of 200$. Also Microsoft recently announced good looking Windows 8 rich Surface tablets. According to Chinese site MyDrivers.com, Apple is using Indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) technology for screen which is said to be light and brighter.
