Are You Using Anchor Text Correctly?
| Anchor text (the visible text of a hyperlink on a webpage) serves more than one purpose. Obviously, it's much better from a user experience standpoint. If you wanted to reference another webpage and included the full http:// web address every time, especially within the middle of a sentence or paragraph, it would look terrible. But that's not the only reason to use them. Anchor text also serves an important search engine optimization purpose. What's important to note is that the search engine spiders can read the anchor text and use that information to determine what that page that is linked to is about. So many businesses make the mistake of linking to the anchor text link "click here" or "read more here", etc. This tells the search engine spider absolutely nothing about that page and is a missed opportunity. In order to help the search engine spiders better understand what it is that you offer and index your site more accurately, use keywords that you are targeting as the anchor text. | Incorporate Long Tail Keywords into the Mix |
Perhaps one of the biggest indicators of SEO success is whether or not the correct keywords are chosen to target throughout the campaign. These keywords will be used throughout on site content and within every additional piece of content that is published on the web (articles, press releases, blog posts, etc.) If you target the wrong keywords, it will attract the wrong audience, and won't improve your conversion rate. That's why the keyword research process is so essential. It's important to understand a user's intent when they are searching online for what you have to offer. When selecting keywords, there are two types to choose from. Broad keywords are the ones that have the highest search volume, but are also the most competitive. Niche keywords are more specific, and therefore have less competition. These niche keywords are also referred to in the SEO community as long tail keywords because they include two or more words within the keyword phrase. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
The Best Directories for SEO
Directory submission has long been a standard SEO practice. There are thousands of free directories out there to submit to and each provides a link back to your website. However, Google is starting to de-index many of these free directories. When Google tweaks its algorithm, it is attempting to think more and more like a human Internet user. Do people actually visit these free directories to find information? Probably not. Submitting a site to a free directory helps create a diverse link portfolio, but Google certainly isn't weighing these links heavily. Does that mean that directory submission is no longer worthwhile? Not completely. The key is just to submit to the right directories. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
