I've just listened to the Carly Rae Jepsen song Call Me
Maybe on the radio for the fiftieth time already this
week and it's made me want to talk about the importance
of emailing your list daily again.
How so?
If you think about it, the chorus is all about email
marketing!
It goes:
Hey, I just met you... and this is crazy
Here's my number... so call me maybe?
See the connection?
A new subscriber "meets" you for the first time by
opting into your list...
So they can download some free content or other.
But, in doing so they also hand over their email
address, inviting you to "call" them.
Like Carly Rae, your subscriber has made it obvious they
are interested in you...
You'd be a fool NOT to follow up, right?
But, that's just the beginning of the relationship...
And it needs attention and effort if you are going to
make it work.
I doubt Carly Rae would appreciate being anybody's
"booty call"...
And neither would your subscribers.
By that I mean you don't just email them every time you
want money...
With nothing "fulfilling" in it for them in exchange!
To build a solid, long-lasting relationship with your
subscribers...
There needs to be commitment and communication.
You must be there for your subscribers:
Help them...
Entertain them...
And lift their spirits.
I'm talking every single day here and NOT just when your
bank balance is running low.
Email make this so, so easy...
But struggling marketers find this kind of intimacy
difficult...
Awkward...
Almost... embarrassing!
