| | Welcome New Subscribers! | | | As always, a big hearty welcome to new subscribers to the Kikolani mailing list! | | Tip of the Day: Check Your Retweet Button Now | | | If you own a blog (and I assume you do since you're a fan of Kikolani), then I want you to do something right now. Go to your latest blog post and find your retweet button. If you don't have one, I suggest adding the Official Retweet Button. If you do have one, try it out. Look at the way it forms the tweet. If it doesn't include RT @yourusername or via @yourusername, then you will need to edit your button code to get that added in. If you're using a plugin or other add-on for your social sharing buttons, you will need to refer to their settings and documentation to make this happen. Or you can use my guide to incorporating social sharing buttons on your WordPress blog (self-hosted only). Why is this so important? 1) When people share your posts, their audience will get to see your username which should lead to new followers. 2) Getting lots of tweets with your username can help boost your Klout (if you care about that sort of thing) and recognition in your niche. 3) If you're using the Official Retweet Button, it will recommend that people who tweet your post follow you as well which is great for building your followers. So go check this out today and make the necessary changes. You'll be glad you did! |
| | Need a New WordPress Theme? Here Are My Recommendations. | | | As someone who owns a lot of WordPress blogs, I have played around with a lot of WordPress themes, both free and premium. When asked what themes I recommend, I always suggest three premium themes: Thesis, StudioPress, or Elegant Themes. Since writing a detailed comparison of Thesis and StudioPress last year and including a few alternative premium themes like ElegantThemes, I have noticed that people tend to purchase StudioPress the most, followed by Elegant Themes and then Thesis. So if you're in the market for a new WordPress theme, please check out my posts on Thesis vs. StudioPress and Elegant Themes to decide which is right for you. They are all great themes - it really boils down to how much design you need, how much SEO functionality you want built in, and price (especially for designers). |
